I am new to chickens, I grew a ton of striped sunflowers in my garden for them but I was reading that most people give their chickens the black sunflower seeds. From what I have gathered the striped ones aren't as nutritious and have a tougher shell. My question is am I right that they can still eat the striped ones? Also, all of my chickens are 12 weeks old, should I soak them or put them in a food processor before giving them to the chickens?

Yes, chickens can eat striped sunflower seeds. I think that they might be a little too big for the 12 week old chicks to eat, though, so putting them in the food processor might be a good idea. Be sure to provide them with grit if you give them the seeds.
