They are fairly docile so getting scratched is usually not a problem. We have around 1600 to 1800 hens at any one time. We don’t raise meat birds at this time.
 
On how much land? Do you have coops or do they all stay out? I am so jealous. Sending my husband a connection to this thread. Should scare him as I always seem to add one or two each month when he is gone.
 
Wow! That's a lot of chickens! Finally, the true meaning of 'free range'. No cages! Yeah!
