Feeding Wild Birds

The Tartarian Honeysuckle at the club is loaded with fruit, and the robins and catbirds are gorging on it.
The robins here have decided they aren't going to let the Serviceberries get ripe so they don't have to share them with me. They started on the currants this morning.

My son is soooo obsessed with doves after seeing my dads. Any ideas on how to get the locals to feel more comfortable coming into my yard
A ground feeder or hanging tray filled with a wild birdseed mix would definitely lure them in. Bird baths always lure birds in too.

A Kingbird has shown up at the club. Every morning and late afternoon it perches on a guide wire from a telephone pole and hunts the side lawn. At home teen age squirrels are causing havoc. I have seen as many as 7 at a time. One tough guy chases everyone from the feeders and back lawn.

Filled the club feeders yesterday and got cussed at by the birds for allowing them to go empty.
Picked cherries yesterday and got scolded the whole time by the robins.

Most of the grackles have left and the blue jays have returned. They move across the road when the main group of grackles are here.

There's a maple tree in the back yard that my dogs mark on as I take them to the truck. Frequently they will bristle up while doing so. I've had my suspicions as to why, and last night they were confirmed. I saw an extremely large coyote in the back yard last night. Several years ago the deer hunters shot a 54# female on my property - this animal is larger than that.
