Feeding Wild Birds

I really like barn swallows. There used to be a field trial in Elmira, NY. They had an old barn that was a nesting site for swallows. In the evening I used to watch them feeding on the mosquitoes that would come up from the swamp.

I luv them too. Sadly it seems most folks despise them.
I do wish their nesting habits were not so messy... and I now dislike them pooping all over my new car. We're gonna have to close in the canopy where i park. They love to roost up there and all day.

My brother in law keeps telling me he'll come blast them for me.
I remind him I am

BIRDS.
No blasting the birdies on my watch!
I think they are beautiful and i get a lot of joy watching them swoop around.

You might remind him that they are a protected species.

They love to roost up there and all day.

This is a standard bird feature. Sit on roost and poop.

My dad liked Barn Swallows, they were going on a fishing trip and the Swallows had a nest with babies in the garage so he cut a hole in the wall and put a small window in it for mom and dad to fetch bugs for the little ones while they were gone.

DH built a new bird feeder and I bought a new squirrel feeder, so they are all living the life of luxury now. Of course, they thought they were before, but now WE think they are living the life of luxury.

My parents bought an old farm in Elmira when I was a teenager!

Well, they have fresh water every day, but we don't have cable tv. Why would we give it to our wild birds????

I should clarify...we can't find anything to watch on tv, so we choose not to invest in something that provides no service to us.
