Feeding Wild Birds

Happy New Year birders!

My feeders hang quite low, and I have wondered when the deer would start banging them around. Out of a flock of 27 turkeys, only one jake figured out how to eat out of the feeder. Speaking of turkeys, they have moved on to greener pastures. Haven't seen them in a long time.
I have had coons clean out bird feeders. Right now mine is going empty very quickly because there are at least 100 House Finches working it over.

I am now leaning raccoon. Feeders were emptied last night and no deer tracks around them.

It's a deer. I just saw a large doe out there helping herself to the birdseed. Tomorrow I will raise the feeders.

We have a doe here who will get up on her back legs and eat out of the bird feeder. There is an old stump right next to the feeding tree that she can put her front feet on. It's pretty amusing to us, so we let her do it. But she cannot eat all the food, just what she can grab at the edges with her tongue stretched all the way out.
