Three male Red-winged Blackbirds showed up today. No singing yet.

Then comes the 870

We have a window feeder affixed to the master bathroom window. This morning there was a dove feeding there that had apparently survived a hawk attack. There was a healed gash across the top of her left wing. I watched as she gorged on feed. When full she flew away strongly - apparently completely healed.

Had a pair of Magpies splitting time between the suet feeder and a starling. They preferred the starling.

The pigeons are returning early to our neck of the woods. They are beautiful fan-tailed birds, but I can't say I'm excited about it. They cost us a fortune!!!

Oh gosh...I have no idea. I have heard them called "band tailed" by other residents here. But I will try to get pictures next time they show up and maybe we can figure it out. That shouldn't be difficult if I take it from inside the house. They leave if I step outdoors.
