Feeding Wild Birds

We've had the two bald eagles hanging out together on the river for the last few weeks. I'm sure they are together, but obviously no eaglets.

We also have two male black headed grosbeaks who have claimed the little feeders for themselves. They are here a few times a day. We did buy new feeders to keep the squirrels out and provide a better perch for the birds. I think it is too small for the blue jays They land nearby and just look at it. I'm not to sad about that. We feed them elsewhere.

Have not seen the songbird again. I'm sure we will. I hear them often.

Ooop baby is bigger than momma but still needs fed apparently 🤣

This is another photo of one of the small brown birds we get here. This one looks a little different that the one I thought was a song sparrow and I haven't heard this one's song directly yet. I looked on Wikipedia and it resembles the clay colored sparrow, and also the song sparrow, but more like the former.

What do you think it is? I downloaded Merlin and Merlin says it's a black headed grosbeak.

It does sorta look like a female grosbeak. Size and bill would be different from sparrow

You know what? I think you are right. And come to think of it, it looks a lot like the original image I posted of a female that I didn't think could be a grosbeak. But, I looked it up again.

Thanks! I love coming in here.. You all know your birds. I just like to listen to them and watch them.

That is definitely a female Black-headed Grosbeak.

So what is this one? Merlin says a blue heron or an Osprey. I know it's neither, of course. We have both and they are large beautiful birds. I'm not too sure of this Merlin app.

I was thinking this is a chickadee, but not the same as our normal ones we see.
