Is that a great horned owl? I’ve heard them in our woods but not seen one here yet. I also hear screech owls a lot at night. Mostly what I see are the barred owls - this one was watching the coop.

No photos, but my feeders are covered with birds, anticipating the oncoming storm and frigid temps. I counted about ten Cardinals, saw a Brown thrasher, Bluejays, and the usual winter bunch: Carolina chickadees, Tufted titmice, White breasted nuthatches, Carolina wrens, juncos, White-throated sparrows, Downy and Red-bellied woodpeckers.

The Blue Jays here are a brilliant blue against the snow.

These 3 little doves just reminded me to hang the wild bird feeders especially since we will be having the rare hard freeze tomorrow in SE Texas.

Birds are feeding feverishly during the snow. Seems to be an especially large amount of Juncos this year.
