That is actually a Sharp-shinned Hawk! They have longer tails, shorter wings, lighter eyes, and wider pale bands on their tails than Merlins. Cool to see, but not so cool for your feeder birds!
 
15-20 Huge swans flew low over our house this morning.
That was a beautiful sight. 😍
One extremely low fog day a flock of severely disoriented swans flew over the gallery at a field trial at the club - only15' or so above the ground. Impressive !
 
I've got about 50 pairs of Cardinals coming in to the feed station. Various titmouses, black capped chickadees, finches and a few Pyrrhuloxia, painted buntings.
The Cardnials are ramping up to breeding season, singing their mating call songs.
