Feeding Wild Birds

Pics
I have only ever seen, caught one bob-tailed coon. I suspected that someone harvested his tail and turned him loose. He was definitely live trap shy. He was a big fat boar. On the trail cam it looked more like a bobcat than a coon.

Interesting in that all that I have trapped were very large older boars.

The male Red-winged Blackbirds are here.
They arrived at the beagle club today, and they were hungry. They were feeding within 20' of me. One lone male has been using the home feeder for a couple of weeks.

I thought that I could hear them the last couple of days. Today is the first that I saw them.

I just saw a robin this past weekend. I’m hoping that means spring is well on its way. I know it’s still early for this time of year, but we are all antsy for warmer weather.

We havent been too consistent this year with filling our feeders over winter. (Our own birds have taken priority) But we are getting back on top of filling them.
Ive noticed more rabbits are around now. We’ve gone almost three years with only a handful of them to be seen over that time. Before that we had so many. 5 or more every morning and evening could be seen in the yard. And I’d find nests all summer long. Now I rarely if at all find them.
Now even if I don’t see them I’m finding their droppings all over the place. Their numbers must be coming back.
