There was a hen colored like the left hand bird running with a wild flock at a beagle club in RI.
Narragansetts came from a wild Bronze mutation. There is only one color gene difference between Narragansett turkeys and Bronze turkeys. The Narragansett gene is the only difference.

It is also a sex linked gene in that the hens only have one copy of the gene to cause the results to be displayed. The toms need two copies of the gene to display the trait. You can't look at a Bronze tom and tell if he is carrying the hidden recessive Narragansett gene if he is heterozygous.
