Merlin says Sharp-shinned hawk.

Tough day for the Sharp-shinned hawk.

First it was being chased by one of my tom turkeys.

Later it flew down into the cage around my big cherry tree. The top is completely open but it couldn't figure that out as it bounced off of the netting. I opened the door and herded it out.

You still can see the grass! I have 9 inches of snow. Chickens aren't interested in leaving the coop.

One of the main differences here is that the temperatures do go down and up and up and down all winter.

Snow comes and goes, sometimes melting off the same day it came down.
