Feeding Wild Birds

Hadn't seen the turkeys in a while. Today the two hens and the young tom came in hungry and on high alert. Two years ago a very tall jake was raised here. He was the only bird out of 34 tall enough/smart enough to eat out of a low hanging bird feeder. He may have matured into this tom as this bird also feeds out of the low hanging feeder.

Last spring a flock of wild ones moved in on a neighbor. He feeds his turkeys outside so they stayed.

It's almost nesting season. The wild hens decided it was time to head west. They took his flock with them.

Got a call this morning from a neighbor sayin my turkeys were down at their place. Me, no mine are in their pen, but I'll come down and check on them.

Texted the neighbor: Are your turkeys missing?

Him: Yes.

Longer story, shorter: 2 miles and 4,000 steps later his flock and most of the wild flock were almost home.

This one ended up here.
