Hi All,

The snow has left water in the ground for our wildflowers to grow.

I was weedwacking today and thinking about feeding alfalfa to the chickens.
I do not have alfalfa but a lot of wildfowers.

Wildflowers in the High Desert of Southern California

This is the flower and plant that I am talking about. Is it ok to feed them,
or are the plants too thorny and hazardous to use?

My best,

Dick.

Thank you for your link.

It is a form of FIDDLENECK and the plant may contain high levels of nitrates.
According to my Mojave Desert Wildflower book the plant is a Devil's Lettuce, Checker Fiddleneck.
I will not feed it to my 9 week old chicks as they are "little chickens" and doing very well.

My best,

Dick.
