Feeling sick after getting h1n1 vacccine

The VIS(vaccine information sheet given before vaccines ) gives general side effects. The actual product insert will list more detailed adverse events.Unfortunately when I read the insert some time last week it just stated the adverse events following the seasonal flu shot(or flu mist). Mild illness following vaccines are normal.More severe reactions could be reported to VAERS,but the H1N1 vaccine is one vaccine you can not get compensation($$$$) for if you are injured through the NVICP.

Once the H1N1 is in use for a while we will have a better idea of what problems can occur when the vaccine is used on a large scale. That is what as done with the cp vaccine.

Then they will probably re-do the product insert to really show what can occur following vaccination and how many boosters are needed for effective protection yearly.

Speedy healing for your mum! If I were her I would treat it like I had the flu and do some immune boosting.

The CDC actually lists flu like symptoms as a side effect to the vaccine.

Here is what the CDC flyer states as side effects for the live, attenuated nasal spray vaccine:

Mild Problems
Age 2-17 years old reported
-Runny nose, nasal congestion or cough
-Fever
-Headache and muscle aches
-Abdominal pain or occasional vomiting or diarrhea

Age 18-49 years old reported
-Runny noise or nasal congestion
-Coughs, chills, tiredness/weakness
-Sore throat
-Headache

Severe Problems
-Allergic reactions (rare) that occur within a few minutes to a few hours after the vaccination

It also gives a list of the people who should NOT get this form (the nasal spray form) of vaccine. It also advises that if you or your child has a reaction to the vaccine, your ability to sue is limited by law. However, they say you can call 1-888-275-4772 or visit http://www.hrsa.gov/countermeasurescomp/default.htm .

ahh that is for the live vaccine so it depends on what you get - if its the "dead" vaccination you should not get side effects
the live one yes because they are basically giving you the swine flu.

I won't do it. 2 reasons. 1. My DH is on Enbrel for his severe RA, this makes his body very vulnerable to any infection, if he gets sick, it's a LONG road for him to recover, and when sick he can't take the Enbrel, so he suffers from his RA. 2. I don't want to

I haven't heard much talk about the H1N1 lately, is it still as widespread and they first anticipated? I have chosen not to vaccinate my kids or myself and am glad that I did. It seems that this started out like the bird flu where it was supposed to be the next pandemic but then it kind of fizzled. Has anyone heard differently?

We did not. I believe in vaccines, but I was leery of the H1N1 vaccine.

H1N1 ended up going through my whole family and it just felt like a bad cold - tired, low fever, bad cough and vomited once. I didn't believe it was really H1N1 until they tested the youngest and confirmed it. The kids missed a week of school and we all spent the week hanging out in our pajamas putting puzzles together and watching movies. I do not regret my decison to forgo the vaccine.
