I have a prone-to-portly orange cat too... CharleyCat. we got him a kitten, the kitten pesters him some, but keeps him active, something he won't do on his own. it's not so much that they play together, but kitten uses him for a jungle gym, and periodically they'll tussel, or run together, or CharleyCat gets tired of kitten energy and runs down the hall and hops up in a closet... he has slimmed down a bit from the kitten workout. not that I'd call him skinny, but it's definitely helped.

Looks just like my friend's cat Jazz, only Jazz is white. Maybe I should suggest to them the raw diet. They've been trying to do "nautral" things that are just really weird. Not to mention they haven't helped.

If not raw, I would suggest a grain-free canned food. Cats are strict carnivores and grains are terrible for them. Dry food, even grain-free, is naturally higher in carbs in order to bind the food. If he likes wet food, you are in luck! If not, transition slowly, and make sure that he always eats. Fatty liver disease is horrible. I am just disgusted to hear of another vet recommending Science Diet. We used to have a vet that pushed numerous unnecessary vaccinations, for house cats, and had entire walls dedicated to science diet food. Thankfully, we found a holistic vet in our area. I just wanted to say, that I love rescues and orange cats, he is just the whole package.

Cute cat, my parents have a "fat" cat named Flea. He is 24lbs of clumsy. Vet said that he is healthy, but just a big alley cat (he was rescued at about 4 weeks of age from an alley). Vet told them just to keep him active and play with him and he'll be fine, he turns 12 this year.

He's adorable! You got a good one - and I have to wonder how such a sweet (and clearly well-fed) cat got there to begin with. We have 5 cats, all rescues, 2 of which were feral kittens when we got them. Thanks for giving your chubby guy a great home.

I x2 the raw. I hear incredible things about raw diets, they're like kitty miracle food. If raw isn't possible try grain-free canned.. Good luck to fat bubba! He's a cutie.
