Fellow Christians ... what would you suggest?

Two-Part Invention: The Story of a Marriage by Madeleine L'Engle. Actually any of her writings--there are many beyond the well-known children's books. Anyways, Two-Part Invention is her story of when her husband was diagnosed with cancer, through his treatment and death. Lots of spiritual ponderings that she dealt with. While this story is somewhat opposite of your friend in that she is the one who is ill, I think it could be very helpful and emotionally healing.

What about that book 'The Last Lecture'? (Morbid, I know, but a very good book.)

We have a book down at our coffee shop that is something like Daily Motivations or something like that.... little verses and phrases for each day.

Sending my thoughts and prayers.....

Since I've been wrestling with the big C in my family a lot lately, somebody from here suggested God at War by Gregory Boyd. It is a pretty good read actually. It may be hard to follow if you aren't into theology in general though. The book's helped me quite a bit.

I whole-heartedly recommend Beth Moore's Bible study, Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent. It focuses on the 15 psalms of ascent that people on their way to the temple in Jerusalem would focus upon on their journey. It might be appropriate as your friend is making her journey toward eternal life with God in His temple.

As previous posters have mentioned, the Bible and a journal would be wonderful, too.

There is an excellent book called The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch (sp). He had pancreatic cancer and faced his illness with courage and good humor. It is an excellent book, not a downer at all. You don't have to be a Christian or terminally ill to enjoy it and get a great deal out of it. I am not sure of the author's name but you shouldn't have any trouble finding it. It is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. It will help your friend to get through this terrible time.

Ooh I love Beth Moore!!! Also, google Women of Faith - several of them have great books out too. Colleen Townsend also wrote a book about the glories of God throughout her marriage and many of them are quite funny, while teaching the Word.

Gosh guys ..... thank you so much for helping me out. This lady (Lee) has long journey ahead of her and I pray that God will heal her.
I made them homeade Lasagna, garlic bread, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, and gingerbread men. I found a book at the christian bookstore called " through the tough times" by Mark Lucado. I also found a healing/prayer/devotion book as well, I can't remember the name of it though. The ladies at our church will keep checking on her and her family to see if they need anything. My pastors wife said Lee had been in the hospital all weekend because she could not stop vomiting from the treatments. Lee has three older children in their teens that help out while their dad works second shift, the two youngest are still in elementary school and have been staying with their grandparents while Lee receives her treatments. I will keep you all updated on her progress as we find out. THANKS again, I really appreciate it.
