Female goose doesn't like my daughter

I have found that geese are big sissys as long as they don't think they can push you around.

I tend to agree. After that incident and my little girl pushing back- Sarah keeps to herself around her so far. Frankly- after I chastised Sarah for going after my chickens....she avoids them so far too. (so far)

Zoowee, our 19 month old moves about the geese (never unsupervised) but freely on the groun and carries a 2' long 1/4" PVC pipe. We use the same but longer for herding and directing here so him having his own size tells the geese to move off and away from him. They preconditioned that if we have those it's time to move to a new area. If we (hubby and I) don't have those the geese pay us no attention and keep grazing or come to us if bring out feed or watermelon. Our son however carries his all of time. He even will help herd the Sebbie flock from front to back.

I would YouTube some herding video to watch how easily ducks and geese can be directed by simple movements and cues. This will help your daughter with moving around the pair you have now and feel like she has more control over the situation.

During breeding season however I would not allow any child near the geese. No need to battle hormones of a gander protecting his girl(s).

My 65 year old mother was terrified of geese when we got them in December. We explained and showed how to bluff them, pet them (they dont like being loved on as adults) and how to use her foot to bumb their chest IF it got to that point.
Mom asked what would happen if she accidently killed one, I responed that she needed to start a pot of water so we could plug them.
As a child she was scolded for saying the gander bit her and it took several attacks before her dad saw it for himself and removed the bird.
She now helps with every part of keeping them and even sings to the flock.
