Female Indian runner duck keeps lying down

@Dm3223 how is your duck? This morning it was 17°F here (-8.3C). I let my runners out later than normal hoping it would get a little warmer, but while out it warmed 1°. 😆 My runners were running around and sitting down a lot to warm their little feet. I thought about your duck and thought I would check in.
They seem all good! I’m pretty sure it was just them warming their feet when I eventually saw them all doing it when the weather was cooler. Always fun to be paranoid haha. Thanks for all the help

I've had ducks and chickens for awhile now, I'm always observing and still overthink their behavior. It's because they can't talk to us. 🤣
Can you imagine what they would say? 😂😂😂😂😂

For supplement a niacin supplement [not time-released or flush free] they need at least 100 mg daily each duck. Sometimes when they have a deficiency it shows itself so vague until over night it seems to show itself as lameness. Many of us use a liquid B complex to treat since it works faster. If you don't find anything on the bottom of her foot and the weather doesn't seem to be the cause I'd treat for niacin def. even a 4 month old can have it especially if it something that has been coming on gradually.

Not to derail but just curious about what you and others do to get those duckies their daily niacin? I have a little brewers yeast we add to their food mix and I also use a poultry booster multi-vitamin to the food mix.

If I don't have any leg problems with my flock they get Nutritional yeast sprinkled over their feed. 1 Tab per cup of feed. If one is limping it's 1 ml of liquid b complex over something like mealworms or chopped tomatoes, something they will gobble right down.
