Female kitten marking

She doesn't have an infection. It is pretty intential marking. She is pretty bold and will mark right in front of us. We have one 5 year old neutered male. He pretty much lets her do what she wants.

Weird! Shes just being a butt head then!

Marking her territory...

I am pretty sure she is one. Will it eventually stop?

This may sound weird, but what kind of material is on the bed she's marking? I have had a problem with cats (male and female) marking satin and satin-like materials. I had a breeder tell me that cats seem to really like the satin feeling stuff for marking.
Have you looked into any of the phermone sprays? I hae heard that those help.
Best wishes.

It is regular cotton sheeting. I will try the sprays. Do they stink? Will she just find somewhere else to mark?

I would try to keep her in a small room for a while with a litter box and her food...
Soo....she cant get access to what shes been peeing on.... (a few weeks at least)
AND...i'd change and replace the bedding..and spray the area that she pee'd in VERY good with a GOOD enzyme cleaner...it has to be a enzyme cleaner.. A good one is Natures Miracle..(petco) ....

I am always learning something on this forum. I didn't know that female cats sprayed.

Supposedly, we can't smell them. It's supposed to make them feel more relaxed or something. She may find somewhere else. I would confine her to a smaller area for a while with the spray and follow redhen's suggestions.
I hope it works for you. I know it can be extremly frustrating.

Feliway is the only brand name pheromone I know of. It does a a slight smell.
It is expensive.
How old is the kitten? It takes time for a cat to regulate to a new home, a month is a short time.
I have had many adopted kittens and fosters that have peed on my bed, on my pillow, etc to mark that they own me.
I have gone to the dollar store and purchased the very cheap shower curtains. you can throw them in the wash and hang then anywhere to dry.
All of my kittens outgrew this habit in a short time.

Nerfy..where do you get the Feliway? Is that different than an enzyme cleaner??

Redhen, Feliway isn't a cleaner. It's a spray that has the scents to calm cats from spraying, transporting, and aggressive behavior.
You can get it at a lot of pet supply stores, but I have found it cheaper on line.
