I have two female turkeys that I’ve had forever that are two years old, they have had coughs for a while now and they get runny noses occasionally too but mainly at night while laying down and while it’s colder. One of the females whose name is Peep (the other is Ebony she’s not as bad as Peep) has been coughing well over 4 months and she coughs a lot and sometimes struggles to breathe and has runny noses sometimes during the day but mainly at night. She does cough during the day too though and struggles a bit but mainly at night as I said. I know I’m being repetitive lol I’m not trying to be just trying to explain best I can, they have not lost any weight at all and are still big healthy girls and have great appetites still and are vocal and active, and don’t have any other symptoms; their poo looks pretty good too that I’ve observed. Just wondering what in the world could be wrong and what I should do? Vet is not an option around where I live

So sorry nobody has responded! Do they sneeze? It's fine that you are being repetitive!

Hey!!! Thanks so much for getting back to me! Yes I was worried I wouldn’t get a response :thI love my turkeys very much and want to get these ladies back to good health and keep them around because I actually just lost my handsome Tom who is also my profile pic about 3 weeks ago out of the blue without knowing what happened and it was very traumatic :hit the turkeys mean the world to me. I will give those links a read through. They do sneeze but not too much honestly I’ve only seen that a couple times when they have the runny noses. But it’s mainly the throat and coughing  I just wanna keep them around, as they mean so much too me. And I thought since months had passed they’d be okay and get over it since they’ve not gotten any worse or dropped weight or appetite but nope the coughing is still an issue to date :hmm all the help and advice i can get is well appreciated :)

Well my Tom didn’t have any of those symptoms whatsoever he never once coughed never had respiratory distress and never had nasal issues he was perfectly healthy from what I could see even though my female was always coughing and still is so much. He never got that, he just randomly passed one day unexpectedly and I’ll never know what it was but assume maybe random heart attack. But the ladies just keep on coughing and coughing :(

If you are in California you can send a nasal swab to UC Davis for very inexpensive respiratory disease testing. Just let me know and I will look up the details for you.
Im in the Central Valley of California. About 20 min from Tulare which I believe has a UC Davis site? Where would I get the nasal swab and how would I do that? And yes please. I would love to see if I could figure out what’s wrong? Cost how to do it details etc. they would be able to test for any respiratory illnesses?

Hopefully he died peacefully.
