What type of fence posts? Do you have pictures? My husband wondered about using fence posts for chicken roosts. Is anyone using this?
I can get pictures later today. They are just standard 6" posts that are a few years old. What type of fence posts? Do you have pictures?
They are 6" smooth wood posts. If they are wood they will work fine. If they are metal I would not use them. That's about as simple as I can say it.
That's what I used to because I read they could grip 2 inch boards better. Are they 6" in diameter? The round part or are they square. I'm dense and somehow not getting this? We just buy 2x2s and use those in the coop. They are cheap.
My are also 2x4s. When they first started roosting I gave them the option of a 2x4 or 2x2. They all crowded on the lower 2x4. They now have 2 2x4s and seem happy.A picture would help.
My roosts are 2x4s so that they can fully sit on their feet in the winter months to help prevent frostbite, their feathers keep their feet warm.
