Hi...

I haven't posted in a while...had some family issues that needed tended to. Anyway...I see there were a lot of different views on how I should have handled my problem.

I ended up politely explaining to the dog owner that I had called Animal Control to inquire about the leash laws in our area and would be happy to share the conversation with him. ( Me thinks he no likey me)

It was very brief and when it was all said and done I told him we'll be selling our eggs in a few weeks and the first dozen is free to our neighbors. (He STILL no likey me)

Looks like it's going to end well tho....he has the dog on a run with a chain that looks like it could hold back a moose.

I'll stay nice until the dog brakes the chain or gets away from him somehow and comes back into my yard.

I'm glad you talked to your neighbor and he's got the dog on a chain. That being said, I could NEVER shoot a dog. There's got to be other ways in dealing. I hope it never comes to that for you though.

Nothing about that situation smells good. Go to the owner sooner, not later. Tell them, they are you children, you're babies and you will protect them on you're property, just as they'd protect dear dog on their property. Explain that you fear for your chickens AND YOURSELF. I'd do it before you're trying to explain why there dog is missing and you have a bloody shovel.

Ima stop, but don't label a breed because a bunch of idiots try to raise them wrong. Maybe chickens are bad because their owners are lunatics that try to kill off all other animals.
