IIRC, the city of KW wanted them gone then, too.
Well, wouldnt have minded if they were.
On some level they are part of the eclectic island life of Key West, adding to the charm.
On the other hand, they were something of a municipal nightmare and probably cots the taxpayers something.
Thre was a similar sentiment about the "houseboat people" in Cayo Jueso, but at least you could find a way to tax them. Chickens have always avoided taxation, no matter where they reside.
I say we should load a truck and go down to snag up a bunch of them. The chickens, not the houseboat people...
