A few things to consider ~
Does he have a valid passport?
His he microchipped?
His he castrated?
Where are you keeping him?
What is your set up like? Do you have a field? Field shelter? Stable? Barn? A schooling area? A round pen?
Have you had him vetted?
Organised a farrier?
Organised an equine dentist?
Are you organised with hay/haylage?
Are you going to be feeding him hard feed too?

He has a valid passport.
I don't know if he is micro chipped or not.
He is castrated.
At the moment I am keeping him in a barn.
I have a paddock.
I have him on chaff and grass nuts.

Step by step:
1. Fed them everyday and sat by the feed bucket NO TOUCHING!!!!
2. Held my hand in a way that they had to touch my hand to eat feed.
3. Brought out treats and hand fed them everyday.
4. Pet and gave treats at the same time.
5. Brushed and gave treats while brushing.
6. Kept treats on hand and brushed/pet only giving treats if they got skittish.
7. Brushed/pet without treats.

Work at your own pace, if your pony takes two weeks to do step one without running away that is fine. It took me awhile and I hope this works for you.
