Fermented feed had a strange covering

It has 1 day since we start fermenting our chicken feed. But suddenly, it got covered with a white thing.it looks like a little solid and has strange patterns. It has also foul smell. What is it?

Fermented feed smells a little funky, for sure. Give that bucket a very good stir. Are you keeping it lightly covered?
I've fermented both a homemade grain mixture and commercial Flock Raiser. How I handle the end product is similar. Both get dry Flock Raiser added to the feed to get a good consistency before feeding.
