FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

If you start with a bit of ACV, that's fine though not really necessary and not necessary to continue.

Okay. I guess I am a bit confused now LOL This is what I have been doing. Filling bucket with the feed and other grains, water and splash of ACV. let it sit for 24-48 hours before start feeding. On the second day i refill. I use 2 buckets at a time so when one bucket is being used the other is sittign for the 24-48 hr period. Am I doing this right?? I don't add mpore ACV when i refill I just add more feed/grains and water.

I had to give dry feed for a while during the worst cold.....I have just started back on ff as I am counting on it warming up now!! But I have noticed whether dry or ff that the birds do not seem to be eating much since it has been so cold. They look good and are laying good,....but just don't seem to eat very much....do you think I should be worried?

It may just be inactivity decreasing what they eat. Mine are not very active in the cold and they also seem to eat less but are laying and appear healthy.

I am currently feeding the adults FF. I have 20 juvenile birds that will not eat FF. I have tried switching them to it several times. Any tips on how to get them to eat it? THANKS

Steve, I think I can help you here. Are your Juvies using a gravity feed type of system where there's always dry feed available to them? If so, and if you have FF available to give them, remove the gravity feeder tonight. In the morning, give them the FF. (Are you fermenting the same feed they are used to having dry? That might be the first step... be sure that it's the same feed to start.) Any how, when you put in the FF, give them 4 or 5 hours to play with it. If they don't eat it, then pour some of their dry feed directly on top of it. If they haven't touched the FF until this point, they'll mob the feeder b/c it has their familiar dry crumble. But, after eating the crumble on top, they'll be dipping into that strangely textured FF, and will decide that it's not so bad after all. If they take a while to get used to it, even after this, put any treats you give them directly on top of their FF.

Lazy Gardner, feed is the same just fermented. Using a regular feeder from feed store. I have a rubber dog dish that I put the FF in. I was thinking since it was a different shape and color they won't eat out of it.
