Just to add my 2 cents. As the fermentation starts, the bacteria/yeast (good bugs) also multiply. This along with good bugs eating up some carbs could change the protein ratios. As the good bugs are also digestible.

I've just started adding warm water to the mix for the morning feed. None of the chickens have dropped dead yet. They seem to like warm food. I've given warm porridge last year.Has anyone heated the fermented feed and given to chickens? I was wondering if would harm anything.
The mornings have been chilly here lately and I was thinking it would help warm them up. But with the fermentation, I wasn’t sure if it would be bad.
I didn't realise it was going to get microwavedAdding warm water and throwing it in the microwave are two very different things.
Maybe I assumed that "heated up" meant microwaved and I am wrong.I didn't realise it was going to get microwaved![]()
Well, at least the poster knows the microwave isn't the best of ideas now.Maybe I assumed that "heated up" meant microwaved and I am wrong.![]()
