Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I'm with you on that....I'm a sour fan. About once a month I have to have hot, spicy, sour, crunchy and slightly salty foods. I just ate three apples with salt to compliment the tartness. I'm a firm believer that food cravings need to be supplied because they indicate a lack of some kind and simply must be fulfilled.

Of course, I also weigh approximately a metric ton, so that nutritional management is probably not the best...but it sure do satisfy! Sometimes I crave red meat, which is something I rarely eat unless it's deer season and we have a good harvest..but even then it's not a even a bi-weekly consumption. But every now and again~about every 3 months~ I just have to sink my teeth into some MEAT..juicy, bloody medium rare goodness.

As hard as you have to work to maintain what sounds like a mostly self contained farm I doubt very much that your size bears effects you health; perhaps when you're older. Lots of exercise keeps cholesterol down with good circulation, among other things. I don't eat much red meat, but when I do it also has to be bloody. I spent 7 years in Mexico so was left with a real taste for really hot stuff. Do you get canned chipotle peppers up there?? : )

I haven't seen anything like that on the shelves but then, we usually just can our own hot peppers into a hot pepper sandwich spread we call hot pepper butter. I've gotten so I can hardly eat a sandwich in a restaurant because it doesn't have any hot pepper butter on it...so I rarely order such a thing!

I don't get nearly as much exercise as I used to do so I'm largely (get it?) sedentary compared to the level of activity I used to do..though the activity I used to do would wear most folks out in a short time of doing it. All my sibs are large as a barge and not one true health issue in any of us yet either(though many are more sedentary than I by far), with ages ranging from 62 to 47, and my parents are tiny, slender folks. Go figure..good, fat healthy genes, I'm thinking.

Oh yeah, some juicy medium rare steak of some kind sure is good now and then! And oh yeah, the hot, salty, crunchy, sour and sometimes even greasy. I love hot. I usually start my day with several real generous sprinkles of cayanne peppper in my eggs. Either that or a jalapeno cut up in an omlet OR a couple chipolte peppers. I've got to where eggs just aren't nearly as good without hot pepper in them.

I went to the kitchen a little while ago to get some salt with a side of granny smith apple on it (LOL) - ahhh somebody ate the last apple! A month or so ago I bought six lemons to make mom a lemon pie that I found a new recipe for... oppps! I thought well five lemons will be okay. Before I knew it no lemons. LOL I need to go to the grocery for lemons FOR THE PIE ONLY and for granny smiths.

Not strange.  Have you ever tasted the oriental treats that are wrapped up like candy and are really sour and salty?  I think they are plums.  I don't like them but it sounds like you would love them.  Check them out sometime from an oriental foods store.

I've never seen those. I'll see if I can't find them the next time I'm in one of those stores.

Ditto here on the large as a barge syndrome! LOL Also on the health but now the weight has caught up with me with joint troubles. I can't do nearly what I did before and *!!!THAT GETS TO ME!!!* You know something that really ticks me off? These dang people that say that obese people are costing everybody so much money because they are sick all the time and constantly in the doctor's office or emergency room blah blah blah. I would compare my health and number of doctor visits to any of them! I am the largest one in my family yet everybody else is always sick with a cold, flu, etc. But then again I have enough sense to eat and take certain things to try and keep my self from getting sick. (...and TW come down with swine flu and she signs off the internet. LOL)

Ditto on not doing what you used to do but mine was less about weight and more about lifting heavy patients for almost 20 years..does some damage. My other sibs never did heavy lifting in their jobs so they don't have the same damage.

Ohhh you must share that recipe wit' yo' friends! lol

I believe I am going to ferment some carrots and add some cayenne pepper then I'll have hot sour crunchy salty with a little sweet, oh yeah!

Ouch, I bet that did do a lot of damage.
