I thought it was funny too, and didn't think it was political, all Pres in recent times have "pardoned" a turkey for TG.
I am not political at all so guess I don't get any subtext

It's the "If you like you doctor, you can keep your doctor" play.I am not political at all so guess I don't get any subtext
Ok, since you baited the hook, tell me what is another way to start a chick without chick starter. Home made recipes that are sufficient? No, no harm, no fowl. Layer feed doesn't keep the shells hard, nor is chick starter the only way to start a chick.
I hit the multi-quote but it didn't pick up the one from TW.
Yeah, I got behind when it got rainy/snowy/muddy/MESSY around here last week and you guys talk so much that I was behind probably by 30 pages in just a few days! So, I'm still here and THANKS!![]()
I'm with Kassaundra...I know just enough about politics to know that I don't want to know anymore. So, I avoid it like the plague.![]()
Cheap meat roosters are using the nipple waterer well and loving the FF, are responding to training about approaching the "Food Thing" while she is dispensing the food. They are made to wait in one corner until I let them approach and not before. The Leghorn mutts are the slowest to learn and the hungriest birds...ain't that like a skinny guy to eat all the food and never gain an ounce? No crowing at all from all 13 roosters, though Toby has crowed some to let them know who's boss and has also had a scuffle through the netting with the top dog roo in the pen...looks like Toby won~he's all bloody on his comb and wattles and Toby is not. I'm very glad we won't have the unholy chorus of crowing, especially in the lovely silence of this new snow falling. So pretty, so quiet...my oldest chickens are out in it like it's no thang, while the younger birds are sitting it out in the coop.
Added 30 gal. of compressed leaves to the cheap meat's pen to provide more cozy bedding...they seem happier than when they arrived and it could be because they are not being eaten alive by lice and mites now. Fat Cochin is moving around more and I see no evidence of any overt fighting in the pen...no other wounds or behavior indicating one is getting the brunt of it all, except the top roo's wounds from fighting through the fence.
When they arrived not one bird seemed to have normal stool...some even had blood in it and all were very runny with lots of nitrates in them, which is sometimes due to the transport and shock of being displaced, but in this bunch, who knows? The leghorns look horrible, with pale combs, scrunty bodies and poor feathering. The only bird with really good feathering is the Cochin. The rest of the larger birds are fair looking, though their combs and wattles were very pale also and their feathering very dull and rough. They are good and heavy, though, so they've got some good carcass genetics going on.

"Duck Al' Orange" (french restaurant fair) and "Peking Duck" (Chinese restaurant fair) in your favorite recipe book or sell to the appropriate restaurant. lol
Maybe tomorrow morning, when I'm not so in love with the fire and my flannels and I have to go out to feed anyway, I'll try to get a pic or two of these death row birds.Right now it's snowing sideways and a tad nipply...another good reason to only feed once a day for all animals...once it's done, it's done and a person can relax by the fire and read. Ant work is all done, firewood and food is all stored, animals all tucked into cozy quarters and time for hibernation. BLISS!![]()
