Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I think that chicken had had a good dose of valium:lol: .....or hypnotized:/ .......the canvas type bag with the handle is a great idea though, and it  would stand up to claws....and I really think the bird would feel pretty secure.

I think you might be right. hehe None of mine would stand there like that.

Yeah..that bird was on drugs.

I'm a little more thorough than that...if I have to dust something, it darn well will be dusted once and for all time. That bird had dust on the outside of her feathers but I can't imagine much got into the skin except for right under the wing area where he manually dusted. Her feet weren't even dusty! I dust right up to the head and the ear lobes in case they have ear mites too. No bug left uncoated.

Here's a few pics of the cheap meats and their pen, as promised. Two of the larger ones were out this morning but went straight back in when I fed, then the pen had to be reinforced where they flew out....with one wing clipped, heavy as lead these boys...flew out over a trellis fence that is 4 1/2 ft. tall. Goes to show you how well wing clipping works...and they had the primaries and secondaries cut! This pen is odd shaped and approx. 5x8x10x8 with a height of (now) 6 ft. on 3 1/2 sides of the pen. Will share more pics when I get them uploaded..I'm in the middle of deboning a turkey!

Mr. Hobbled Rooster got his hobbles cut today and he feels like a new man...er..chicken. I've thrown them several apples to work on and a good bit of BOSS in their bedding to give them something to do in their penned existence. It can't be easy to be confined.

Fat Cochin....he's one big eater..heavy guy. Several of the larger roosters are extremely heavy, meat dense.

They've eaten all they can and are trying to grab the spot of sun coming into the pen for a morning sun bath. Post-breakfast daze of full crops and warm sun....

And ol' Toby...who had another fight with the new boys this morning and looks like he lost this time....he's staying in the coop now and letting his battle wounds heal. I think he lost one of his points in this last battle...the last one looks nipped off. Poor old guy is trying to keep his throne against a whole pen of usurpers..it can't be easy.

Thanks for the pics. Toby is so pretty. Poor boy, they probably ganged up on him. That is one hefty Cochin, gonna be a lot of meat! They all look full and content - a happy thanksgiving for them for sure.

You have a great day Bee, and tell your mom the same.

Wake up all you fowl people, Thanksgiving Day is over!!! lol I hope you all had a good one. I don't know about where you folks are but I have been getting 1/2" or so of ice off everybody's water in the morning. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to do without that. lol

@Angelicisi... great looking chicks! You and Splash are lookin perdy cute too. :) Splash looks perdy warm and toasty to me. Really pretty bird!
