Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Well I'm glad they didn't get any of your birds! I had two around here today so I just told hubby not to let the girls out. :)

From what I've read I don't believe turkey vultures will bother chickens too much except possibly chicks. I wish the crows would move closer to the house! Those birds in the pic are at least a foot tall, probably taller. Beautiful creatures! I love to watch them. I believe they are my favorite bird.

So this morning I had a dentist appt. I ran around and let all the chooks out, fed, watered, counted lol and head off to the dentist. I'm upsidedown in the chair practically and this poor New girl helping me looking at my wreck of a dental project...sees Poo on my shoe and screams "OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE DOG POO ON YOUR SHOE!"

I'm like "oh no! " And sit up to look...see its chicken poo.
Tell her "oh that? That's just chicken poo"

:hmm she says, "oh." All calmly now, Smiles and goes back to checking :/

Soooooo hard not to laugh! She had sharp instruments in my mouth I was dying to belly laugh :gig

Just chicken poo...oh. I wanted to die. Lol

As the saying goes, I'm a day late and a dollar short but wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year ! God bless you all !

That story reminds me of another chicken poop story. Last spring we sold our tiller and a yuppy looking couple, driving a very nice car, came out to see it and buy it. You see, we live half a mile from the hard road on a gravel/mud road with many imperfections(mud holes and ditches, bumps and lumps), so not exactly the place for a low slung luxury sedan. Well, they wanted it, paid for it and said they'd come back later with a truck to pick it up.

As they traveled down the drive, they suddenly put on the brakes and the lady got quickly out of the car and bent down, looking at her feet, then did a little shuffle. Mom said, "What in the world??" and I looked at her, smiled and said just two little words, "Chicken poop." She looked puzzled for a minute and then the light came on and her eyebrows went up as she turned to watch the fancy car ease down the road. We looked back at one another and burst out laughing!!! There was no doubt in our minds it was the first time those Birkenstocks and the pristine interior of that sedan had been anointed with chicken poop.

When they returned for the tiller, the nice lady didn't come with her husband. I just think she was very lucky I feed FF and that poop didn't smell like much at all!
