Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Scratch the idea of the muffin tin. Within one min one got stuck halfway inside. A lot of loud cheeping on that.

I'm just using a 6' lid off a coffee can. I can use an ice tray or put 2 lids out. The man that was coming to fix my coop and build my feeders has a (real) money paying job for a few weeks. He was just going to do this as a favor. I can't stop him, he has a wife and family and good jobs are hard to come by sometimes. I'll make do.
My little golden comets got their two little brown strips down their backs today. So they are feathering good. Cuties...

Up to 2 weeks I tend to free feed, anytime I'm around I fill feeders. At 2 weeks they go outdoors to range with layers and I feed breakfast 6 or 7am, lunch around noon & dinner 6-7pm. They get nothing after dinner til breakfast and do just fine. I used to skip lunch feeding and feed at like 4pm-5pm but this batch needed a bit extra. So we added an extra feeding. If I actually put food out for 12 full hours access, they'd eat it and still be hungry :gig but mine free range all day so they are eating still.
Although when they are football size breakfast is a battle lol

Today we processed a set of 10 and they were between 3.8 & 5lbs. Went very smoothly this time. We aren't wiped out like last time :lau

I have Cornish X that are 6 or 7 days old. Ive had them on ff for 5 days around the clock. When should i switch them to 12 hours on and 12 off?

Because mine are ranging with the layer birds this year they will be getting fed once a day when the layer birds eat, just like my first batch did. They finished out bigger than my second group, but I think it was more genetics than anything. I feed mine in the morning when range is thin, like right now, but as that grows more abundant they all get fed in the evening after they have ranged all day.

WOW wish those were in my fridge. ;-) nice job!

Here's pics of the almost week old meat chicks and I'll post a video of them as soon as I can get it uploaded to YT...doing that right now.

As you can see, they still walk over the feed but the wire keeps them from getting down into it so much...they normally just stay on the wire instead of putting their whole foot into it.

Bee they are just too cute! LOVED the video to! Now will these be white in color?
