Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

There are a group of ladies that decorate travel trailers and meet up in different places once a year and it sounds like great fun! I think this is the biggest one... http://www.sistersonthefly.com/

but there are others. Some decorate their trailers in themes and change them up each year~they call this "Glamping". They dress up in costumes, go trail riding, flea marketing, grill out and generally just have a good time.

Wow wouldn't that be a gathering....to have all of us together. Did you notice that our friend from Hawaii has gotten quiet? He must have thought we were serious!!

I'm sure they always hear hintings of such when living in paradise. Probably one of the worst side effects of living there.

As promised...pics of the "unchicken" BUD. Note the red, glowing eyes? Yep..something's not right with that bird.

His chest is filling out with all this good living and feed, but still too scrawny to process.

And in full stealth, camo mode...note the absence of a tail on this bird. Makes it hard to determine age on him.

I am hearing the theme song from "Twilight Zone"! He is going to keep you guessing so you won't put him in freezer camp!

Love, took pics of some of the winterizing I did today on the old hoop coop....first pic shows the sun porch, plastic on the southwestern side of the coop that lets in a lot of winter sun and warmth.

A wing window that can be opened for ventilation....

Or closed on windy, cold days...all depends on the needs in the coop.

Below is going to be my extra leaf storage/insulating wall...when this bin is full, I'll place the tarp flap over it to keep it dry.

The sun porch from inside the coop...Little Red Hen is inspecting the job, per usual.

The back of the coop with plastic applied to the center panel..with more venting left open at the top than last year. I'm learning.....

And the center of the coop (door) with plastic, also with more venting left open at the top of that than last year. The right side wing window installed because there are roosts on that side now, so want to keep the wind off the birds as they sleep. I won't be doing anything about the bottom of the coop just yet and when I do, it will only be in the back near the roosts, but the front will most likely be left open to air. Last year I had those covered and it was just too much airtight-ness, even with the venting at the top and other areas. More ventilation this year is my game plan.

 After seeing the simplicity of you coop, I'm starting to think building a coop has become an overcomplicated art. :th

Wow Bee he def has every color in his feathers. Any guesses to his breed? from his size I would guess he was still young?

And I would have glowing red eyes to if someone wacked me in the head with a staff

This coop? It took me 10 days and $205 and just one, unskilled fat woman to build it...that would be ME.

It has more zip ties than you could ever count..even the roosts are held on with zip ties. This is about the most simple coop one could ever construct!

Hey, hey, now! He was struck on the back, not on the head....

Not that it makes a difference...well...maybe it would because he would surely be truly dead if I had knocked him in the head.

I'm thinking Barred Rock and New Hamp? Possibly? He'll be a large roo when he gets done if he wasn't stunted at the chick stage..which, judging by his feathering, could be the case. I'm thinking he can't be anymore than 3 mo. old..maybe a little more.
