Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I am fermenting the whole oats along with a 7 way scratch and their all flock, just added some Layer into the mix yesterday, so now I will try sprouting the w/oats along with the BOSS and try Lentils will have to look for Milo, so today mine will get sprouted BOSS for the first time.

Can you just sprout regular scratch? My scratch is a 5 grain mix. It has Oats, Wheat, Barley, Corn and one other grain I can't recall..

We were discussing starting this.

I don't see why not. mine is 7 way and I'd have to sit down and pick the grain out because there is some kind of pellet in it too.

It wouldn't have been too processed to sprout? No pellets in mine. What kind of pellets are in yours?
I have no idea it says on the bag grains, so it is some kind of processed grains I am guessing. Looks like the pellets that are in reg feed. which mine don't care for pellets but fermenting them breaks them up so they eat them. I use crumble in my reg feed.

I'm back to crumble as well. I do find there is a huge difference in the two forms with FF. The pellets swell much more than the crumble - resulting in more mass. But the pellet I was using was turkey grower. Now I'm using just regular grower. They don't have it in pellet or mash. Just crumble.

smells like bitter almonds. When I used to be an ER nurse, one of the things I used to laugh about (black humour)

was the Cyanide Antidote Kit. The whole point about it was that you had about a couple of minutes if you took cyanide so the only way it would be effective was if you waited to get to the Emergency room and then ingested it!
Paramedic here, so totally understand the "dark humor". I can be telling a complety funny story (I think anyway) and my family will be looking at me like I need serious psychiatric help if I find it funny.

I can't help but laugh when people hurt themselves. Falling. Jamming fingers. It's an outbreak of laughter everytime.

It sure gets me into trouble.

So I have a mold problem. Not with my feed the FF is going really well but under my buckets. I keep mine in the green house and have concrete floors. I do the double buckets system and have two set up. I guess I am to messy but water got under the buckets and mold is growing on the concrete. I cleaned it all up but want to prevent it from happening again. I think I may set the bucets on bricks?!?!? Anyone else have this problem or am I just too messy with the water.

As an aside my nephew who was living with me briefly after getting out of the service moved out a few months ago. He came over yesterday and asked what was going on with the chickens. He said "they look so plump and healthy. They kinda shine too." Made me feel good cause I know its the feed change.

I have the issue too. Not too worried about it. It's just concrete. I sweep it out so it doesn't grow too much though.

I am very messy as well.
