Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Oh I know what you mean about being so excited! When mine started laying I wouldn't even break one until I got a whole dozen! LOL And oh yeah, those shells are hard! I've had a couple layed from 3' up on the roost on bare ground- one had a little crack and the other wasn't even hurt. Then I dropped three from like 5' on to concrete with a little grass/leaves on it. One didn't even break and it seems like one of them was still useable, the other splat! lol And I dropped one in the kitchen floor, still useable and yolk not even broken. ...Dang I'm a clutz!!! LOL

LOL ! Sounds about like me ! I drop just about everything I put my hands on ! Can't wait to see them all start laying so I can have fresh eggs, hopefully, on a daily basis !

I'm still having a hard time figuring out if any of my chickens are Roos.... I guess only time will tell. Hoping I have at least one Roo outta the bunch !

Lowe's has food-grade 5 gal buckets, as well as the regular plastic ones. Food grade is white. I've had no staining, but also no fish meal. I'm a one-bucket gal.

I'm a "one bucketer" too! No telling what kind of mess I could make with two! lol

If those shells weren't so hard no telling how many I would have already broke! LOL Yeah sometimes it takes a while to tell for sure who's a roo and who's not.

I made a slight calculation error, CX were 6 weeks old yesterday..... so around 3 more and i'll be a busy boy. Depends if I have to go it alone or not, I probably will wind up doing the processing over 3-4 days. 24 is just too many to do at once without help. Still need to find a chest freezer, uh oh. lol it's the way I do things, I call it the tonsilectomy through the rectum syndrome...

Walt

FF doing better they know what it is now. Bee did you say 2 gallon jugs? So far I only found 1 gal. Looking at the birds and the jug... might not work dunno. I borrowed a metal cone and I was less than impressed.

"Tonsilectomy through the rectum syndrome"! LOL That is what my boyfriend would say about me for my lack of "having a plan" for everything. It just drives him crazy. My motto is, "I don't know, just do it!" I love the Jace Robertson of Duck Dynasty quote, "When you don't know what you're doing, it's best to do it quickly". I had to buy a notebook with that quote on it. LOL
