Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Yeah, we were there between those years alright, but we never really got to see any of the people who worked there much. We would just stroll around the trout pools and toss dandelions into the water to see how quickly they would disappear. We really liked seeing the brood trout the most and would dream about catching one that big in the Blackwater.
I had one hell of a time keeping thieves away from the brooders under the bridge. Dogs take care of most chicken predators around here but I couldn't
let my dogs attack the fish thieves! I had a Rottweiler breeding/showing facility there too, but it was hidden behind the trees....You may have seen my ostentatious sign. advertising the Rotts. lolol

Now, TW....you know all those birds are egg eaters...can't kill 'em all.  Just wait for the shells to firm up and the problem will disappear.

Me too, Lisa!  Can't say I like 'em but I usually leave them alone unless they are crawling around my bedroom.  You have no idea how many times I've almost drank a spider in my water at bedside!  :gig Spider legs....spatooey!!!  :sick

Now you trying to freak the wuss out worse. (shaking head) I almost drank a ladybug one time. They taste bitter!

Some of them gals haven't laid in months~Fanny being one of them~and Little Red is on a molting break...she gets to live because she is an egg machine even as an old lady.  Middle Sister is laying an egg a day now...but she hadn't laid since she went broody back in July!  Too old to lay consistently and though they have sentimental value, one cannot eat sentiment and one cannot save money while feeding it.

Ohhh maybe they are just taking a break. Show them the paintball gun! LOL

I've already culled Raggedy Ann, Katy and Barbara Ann in the last cull along with BUD.  After the next one, the only ones left from the Gnarly Bunch will be Little Red and Toby.  Honorary members of the flock for a little while yet...Little Red because she earned it and Toby because I don't expect him to lay an egg...just protect the gals and look pretty.

Methinks she exaggerateth a little....or, maybe that's why she though they were from Houston...everything's bigger in TX.   :gig
Maybe just a little. hehe

You mean this one????  :smack

I can still hear my sister yelling, 'LISA, THERE IS A SPIDER IN THE BATHROOM'.  7 kids in the family, and I get called!!  My daughter calls me from Indiana and tells me there is a spider.  Now what am I suppose to do????

Lisa :)

Yep that one! LOL If I see a spider I go into "Rambo mode" - it's got to diiiie! lol

Paintball gun! Ha. Ha. They's just OLD. Time to go. You can never get to experience all the new and beautiful chickens out there if you never let go of the old ones. They have many good years of chicken heaven here and I've done my best for them.

It's also prudent to cull older birds before their immune systems are naturally weakened due to old age and system failure. Keeps the whole flock healthy when you cull the weaker birds...I'm the predator in my own livestock paradigm and this is my "natural" selection.

K, you would have loved the variety of spiders I got to see on my flowers this spring....I never saw such a variety and so very pretty! Some of them looked like crabs and were yellow, some orange, etc.

Like this one...
