Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

:lau    Me?  I eat spiders for breakfast!  Well....not intentionally...but when I reach for my water in the early  mornings, I've often had to gag out a spider.

I'm just trying to help desensitize you to the presence of your fear of spidies...it's a psychology method.  Lay back and tell me about your mama.....  :caf

Now you know I won't be drinking anything in the dark again! And I was afraid some bug would be drinking out of my glass at night! Thank you sooo much! Ahhh!

My mama, she killed two trees pulling the limbs off to whip me with. LOL

K, you would have loved the variety of spiders I got to see on my flowers this spring....I never saw such a variety and so very pretty! Some of them looked like crabs and were yellow, some orange, etc.

Like this one...

Here, TW....something you might enjoy: http://www.spiderzrule.com/crabspider1.htm

Cool. I regularly stalk my yard/garden, parks, woods etc..... for insects to photograph. The one of my pics that looks like she is wearing boxing gloves, I have a different pose where she looks like a crab, I was struck by her intense metallic color, it was stunning! The first one is on a rose petal, and I think she looks like a Daalek (Doctor Who villain)

I knooow. That's why I'm trying not to get too close or make any pets.

I still get close and I guess you could call them a type of pet for me....that closeness is why I take my responsibility for culling so to heart. I really and truly care about each bird out there, I smile and my heart warms when I see them, they have names and distinct personalities~I talk to them and treat them gently when I handle them. I never advise anyone to "not get too close" or "never name the meat chickens"...that's silly! Those animals deserve your attention, affection and love the same as all the others...maybe even more so, because they will nourish your body one day, which is an even closer bond between species.

I guess I just see these things a lot different than most folks....we bond very closely with the food animals here and always have. It makes it a little more difficult to cull for processing but why should that be an easy thing? Killing something should never be an easy thing. Doesn't have to be over dramatic, but it most decidedly shouldn't be "easy". Makes one appreciate the animal all the more if it hurts the heart to kill it and eat it. I never want to grow so detached that I don't get a little sad when I kill an animal.

I have absolutely no fear of spiders, snakes or..the dark but I know several men who are!! They might not admit it to strangers though .lol

I know at least two large Hill-Billies who will fight a buzz saw and perhaps win but they are afraid of ANY chicken, be it a peep, a bantam, hen or rooster.

I know them well but no one has ever told me why they have what I consider such unreasonable fears...Oh, they are brothers and may have had bad experiences but I was rooster-flogged daily when I was a kid, sometimes repeaterdly...No explanation for some things...

Sorry for getting off topic...but both of these guys did really enjoy the products of fermentation!! <SAVE> lol

And you think I am going to click on that link...? haha Noooo thank you. Now I admit those big black and yellow garden spiders are pretty, but they still freak me out. When I was little I would shoot them out of their web. They helped me become a good shot! lol Y'all do know ALL those things have fangs (huge in my mind!) and will bite you and could kill you! LOL

I'm not scared of snakes (have had pet ones) and the only time I am scared of the dark is in the summer outside when snakes (possibly venomous) are laying around and spiders hanging from the trees. I use to run outside with no shoes on in the dark to feed my dogs or whatever then one night I almost stepped on two snakes. Don't do that anymore! Shoes and a flashlight at all times in warm weather. I have lots of snakes here! I let them live unless they are venomous.

I agree and nope it shouldn't ever be easy or something taken lightly.

Well I've got to get up and get busy. I really do appreciate you guys. It is really nice to be able to sit down and talk with some like-minded good people and talk about whatever- sometimes serious, sometimes off the wall crazy, sometimes educational. Take care and have a wonderful day! I'll more than likely pop in from time to time, always do. LOL

Love you guys! :)
