Fermenting feed

Yes, thank you!! That’s exactly what I was looking for. I fed them their first batch today and they gobbled it up! I had a LOT left over because I started with the amount I normally feed them in a day and they only ate about 1/2-2/3 of it. So hopefully it won’t go bad. The smell is pleasant for now, and I planned on using the same bucked and just adding to it so I think it should be ok? :idunno

I researched it a lot, but this method is the easiest and works well. You can really overthink it if you try to hard. Plus, I’m lazy and don’t want to spend more time preparing my chicken feed then I do my own food.

Exactly! I’ve been researching, but the more info I found the more confused I got. I’ve seen a few people that ferment like you do and that’s all I want to do as well. I have too many animals to feed to spend hours preparing it!

I have a question, can I add Lactobacilus to the feed with water? Will it do any good for the chickens? Thanks.

I dunno. Are they healthy? Why would you want to add it? If given good feed, plenty of room, fresh water all the time, and there is nothing else going on with them, I think I'd leave it off.
Others may have different ideas though.

One bucket, one part feed, one part water, stir. When the bucket starts to get empty add more feed and water. Very easy.

I used this method a few days ago, and fed it to my little flock earlier today. They absolutely loved it! This method is much easier than turning a bucket with holes in it every few hour, and the chickens really took to it. Thanks for posting!

I have had some dead chicken and they just die, no sick, I have been testing water for ph and its ok, I think one of the issues is when it rains they drink water that accumulates in some places instead that on the waterer, could this be something?

Thanks for your help!

How do you get this done? I have 19.5 pounds of feed I need to give to my chickens how many water? Thanks.
