Fertile eggs on ebay

I have had this happen about 3 or 4 times, except there wasn't a ONE, it was NONE. So yeah, people don't believe this crap, but it HAPPENS all of the time. So people need to stop being so dang hateful especially to the chicken keeping community.

My eggs have also arrived packaged very nicely.

And yes I have bought some very expensive and rare pheasant and quail eggs of of eBay.

Ok, well you're stating your truth as you know it then, just like we all are. Replacements are a optional one time occurrence and then it's OK I'm sorry sir/madame, but it's clearly not working here, you're going to need to source your eggs somewhere else. As others have stated, some people you aren't going to satisfy. If they are still unhappy after your replacement, then there isn't anything you can do about that. You've gone above and beyond. If they are nasty to you, you can block them from buying from you again, but I only do that if things go south, like a negative reputation, comment, something like that.

Mine, too.. unfortunately. Some of the best packaging I've ever had has had the worst fertility. I've had eggs arrive and I've thought wow I'm totally going to have the best candling/hatching ever.. and 0 will be fertile. It boggles my mind.

Then, I get some eggs in that have grass on them and some have dirt on them, and they have the most beautiful veining I've seen. It's insanity.

Yup. I guess you just have to find a trustworthy person.

Lol same here. I got some mountain quail eggs, they were so nicely packed like they could fall out of the UPS truck and be fine. But only 65% fertile.

Yep, I always read the negatives for myself before buying to decide if the seller is terrible or if the buyers are lol! I'd say 9 out of 10 times it is the buyer. Most people do this if the seller has something they really want. Don't worry, if someone dosen't buy because of one person who left a undeserved negative then you dodged a bullet anyway.

That is true. I have used eBay for various things since it started, and some of the negatives are ridiculous. I know it hurts to get your first negative, but it will not hurt your business. If it is your policy not to return eggs, ebay will side with you.

I have yet to hear back from the buyer so now ebay says we have to wait until they either escalate the case or after 30 days it expires and the funds are released.

Try not to let it get to you. I know it's hard, but it is common among sellers of all sorts of things to have a policy that they are not responsible after what they are selling has left their hands.

I have bought ebay eggs many times and never have good hatch rates even with experienced broodies because the shipping process is just rough. I candle all eggs on arrival and there are always detached air cells that then don' ddevelop. All clears by day 7 get cracked open and often there are some that are not fertilised. I have had a few zero hatches but never requested a refund. However I have stopped buying as often from ebay because it is so unreliable in terms of anything surviving unfortunately.

I would only want a refund as a customer IF the eggs were damaged on arrival or I opened them and more than half were not fertilised. I would also complain to seller if the eggs were improperly packaged which has happened before, where some of the eggs in the box are fat end up and some are Narrow end up. This means that even if the postal service keeps it the correct way up with the postage label up then half the eggs spend the journey upside down which badly affects air cells.

I have seen several sellers offer a fertility guarantee whereby they will replace or refund eggs if they are clear at day 7 and then returned UNCRACKED to the seller at buyer's expense and the seller finds at least half of them unfertilised. Of course the postage cost usually makes it not worthwhile but I have seen many sellers give buyers bad reviews for NOT returning the eggs and leaving a negative review.
