Fertilised egg?? No rooster..

Brown shavers are also an autosexing chicken - a rooster would be white.
For clarity' s sake, they are sex linked, not autosexing. Autosexing are breeds that breed true with obvious gender differentiating characteristics which carry on generationally...sex linked are crosses that show gender differentiating characteristics but do not breed true with these characteristics carrying to succeeding generations.

Thanks - I always get that one muddled up!

Now that we have established without a doubt that all 3 chickens are female let’s get back to a possible explanation for fertile eggs. I believe that your hens are self fertilizing their eggs or parthenogenesis.

Thank you. I know it sounds crazy and some don’t believe me. But it is not possible a rooster has been in there. As someone mentioned only I know what’s been in or hasn’t been in my coop.

I have used a couple more eggs since and no other bullseyes

Somehow it seems more strange that only one was fertile! Is it possible that the egg isn't actually fertile but that the normal blastodisc has mutated or been damaged or something?
