fertilized eggs?? how can u tell

If you incubate duck eggs for about a week, when candled (shine light into the egg in a dark room), a fertile egg will have a small black dot and blood vessels. Infertile eggs will not have blood vessels, and you'll only be able to see the slightly darker mass of yolk, not the developing embryo.

You can tell if an egg is fertile if you crack it open, even if it hasn't been incubated. An infertile egg will have a small white spot on the yolk. This spot will be solid, and slightly irregular in shape. A fertile egg will have a white spot too, but it will be shaped like a bulls-eye, with a small ring.
