Fertilized eggs turned to liquid. Why?

my Muscovy had a clutch of... 19ish eggs. I candled them every two weeks removing duds and such. However every so often there would be one that became liquid. Eventually all of them had to be removed for this reason. Is this just a thing that sometimes happened during the summer? I live in the Mojave desert. Or is this an indicator of a different issue?

In my case, I just try to add more bedding material, or I have even moved hens to better spots. Not sure what your situation is, or what else causes that to happen.
