Success with hatching varies greatly. Most of our eggs go in a gqf cabinet incubator. Depending on the eggs 75-95% hatch rate. Unless it rains. Everytime it rains I have an awful hatch. The humidity here is 0-- so when it rains & it shoots humidity to 75% or more my babies drown & hatch rate can be as low as 10%. Been shopping for a dehumidifier to use for such cases. We don't get much rain here, so it isn't a regular thing. But it is heart breaking each time.
Peeps I do have coral blue in my flock, however all last yr I only hatched 3. I am not sure how many keets hatched this wk-- but 50-60 some are still fluffing out & some just pipped today..... so far there 4 are this blue color. There is no way IMO if I only hatched 3 last season out of a few hundred eggs throughout the whole season last yr that I already got 4 in this hatch. I begged for coral blues to hatch last yr..... No way they just wouldn't! Now you want to say I got 4 this wk. I don't believe it. Nope not true..... No way my guineas would have held out on me last yr if they could have done this all along.
I may hold onto these 4 to see what they become.
I do have a local BYCer that I am hatching some of her coral blue eggs & we will select a few of those for ourselves & the rest will go back to her place.
Peeps I saw on your other thread you were keeping a few. I was planning on picking my keepers towards July August when the market died down, except for the special ones of course. DD may not agree with my plan & might think we need some out of each hatch but I would much rather have them all grow out together @ one time than try to introduce multiple batches of keets. DH thinks we should pick the ones we want now & start to grow them out, but I say we sell ours now since the market will be saturated with guineas in 2 months.
