Is that a threat or a promise! LOL!!!

You had a bunch in that first batch. I really liked the idea you had with the packing in that foam! It is fun to see all the cool packing that is done. Is that called Creative packing?

Cool! I was thinking that was what they were, but wanted to be positive since they are pures, want the kids to know what they are choosing if they want to show them! Some of the kids are excited with that idea.

BuckeyeDave and luvmychicknkids, even though we had a few broken ones, the Ag instructor is going to make good use of them. We are going to bring in some store bought eggs and these broken chipped cracked ones and show the ag students how to tell if an egg is fertile or not. We are also going to let them candle the eggs and see what they see in them. Again, comparing the store bought egg to the fertile egg.

The temps in the bators are looking good! 99.5 - 100.5. Took a couple 3 days to get them stable, of course if the kids would quit turning the knobs that would be most helpful. They were threatened with their lives if they messed with them and were caught. I gave the adviser a hint. I said once the temps are stable, let's put a black mark on the dial and one on the incubator that should match up. That way we KNOW someone messed with them if they don't match up. The turners are installed and waiting to set Monday! WOOT! This is getting fun! (Like it was not fun before!)

If I am figuring correctly, the eggs that take 17 days should hatch on Friday March 6th or before. I will probably bring in another incubator for them to use as a hatcher and bring a few of those buttons and courtnix and pheasant in for them to watch.

For the eggs that are set with 21 day hatch, they should be pipping on Sunday night March 8th or Monday morning March 9th. Hopefully the kids can watch some hatch! COOL! I have already set the turkeys in the bator at home and will bring in a couple to the incubator/hatcher at school on day 25. That way they can observe some of them hatching too. (don't worry I live 4 miles from the school and drive real fast!) LOL

the ducks/geese will hatch the following week March 16th!

Wow what FUN!!! the Ag Instructor has a brooder that needs a box built for the bottom of it and we have a bunch of 4X8 pieces of plywood from some demo work did and they will build a box for the bottom of it for the chickie babies to go in.

OH you are so correct! You all think you did just a teenie little thing sending us eggs, but it is a HUGE thing! NEVER in a million years could I pull this off without all your help! Every thing, every delivery, every postman and woman, every accident, most all the shipping taken care of (less expense out of my pocket) for these kids. The background and info that was included in some of the shipments, MAN that is totally awesome. No way can I ever repay you all for this.

Education is one of the best things we can give these kids and they may not think they will ever use or need the stuff they will learn in this project but even if it helps one person later on to remember what they did while incubating or caring for these chicks, it is all worth it. Some day down the line, they may decide to incubate some eggs and will have a recollection of doing this project and it will not seem so scary to try to them. Science is cool and life from an egg is even cooler! How a little life can be formed from a single egg and a yolk in a protected shell is just AMAZING, how cells can split and grow and veins form and wings and feathers, without any connection to the momma. WOW!

A million thanks to you all and I WILL post pictures as we go along.

OK got some more eggies this am.

I did manage to get mine out today! Unfortunately, I had one millie egg yesterday, and I broke it, so they are probably all mixes. There could be some pure RIR in there, but I honestly don't know. I was only able to fit 3 dozen in there, so I hope that's okay. Oh, and the fish tank too. I marked it 'HANDLE LIKE IT'S YOURS' so we'll see if that helps!
