Fiberglass bathroom tubs... UGH!! How do you clean these things!!!!

Thanks for all the tips. Water has no funky taste or smell.... just seems that the sand residue clings to the sides. Not slimy but you can scrape it..... hard to get off. I'll look into upping the heater too.

Scrubbing bubbles or Dawn Dishwashing Liquid. I have a cultured marble tub and it's best to not use anything abrasive. Do you have any of those microfiber cloths? Spray on the foam, let sit a couple of minutes before wiping tub, or put dishwashing liquid on a wet microfiber cloth...squeeze it until it's sudsy, then scrub the surface.

I hate to admit....I have a lot of nasty bathroom cleaning experience (think animal house frat house-I will say no more)

Besides not using bar soap.

The best cleaner I have used and the cheapest; Home Depot Zep bathroom tub and tile cleaner at $1.88 (under $10 for a gallon)

I also like using my steamer, but I have made those nasty frat house bathrooms come clean more than once.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is really magic.

You don't need chemical cleaners and it doesn't scratch. You get it wet with regular old water and go to town rubbing your mess away. I am really sensitive to harsh chemical cleaners, so you could imagine how happy I was when I discovered that not only did it work VERY well, but that I didn't have to smell anything.

Then when I'm done with the eraser, I wipe everything down with a diluted bleach solution to disinfect. :)

I like the magic erasers, but a water and salt paste is cheap and just as effective, as is 1500 grit sandpaper. All those things do scratch even though it's a fine scratch.

I clean houses for a living and I say, either srubbing bubbles (soap scum remover) or Tilex soap scum remover, Spray on scrub with one of those no scratch pads for the kitchen dishes.. The blue one, with the blue scrubby on one side.. Their amazing!!!

That is the only way I attempt any bathroom cleaing!!

We built our house about 9 years ago and went with fiberglass showers. My shower had a thin spot in the fiberglass and cracked. They sent out a rep and drilled holes in the shower and shot some kind of expoxy down in the weak spot and then repaired the hole. You can't even tell it was there.

I asked the rep about cleaning it and he said any cleaner that you can get to work and then put a good coat of car polish like 2000 finish on it. There is another in a orange bottle but the name escapes me at the moment. He said it will keep it clean and not let it stain again. You just have to get it clean.
I used Bar Keepers Friend. It is like Ajax or Comet. Just works better. Scrub and then put a good coat of polish on it. My shower is textured and it is not slippery afterward.

I use Lysol on my fiberglass tub's and it doesn't harm the finish and it takes off anything that shouldn't be there .Liquid Lysol toilet cleaner
