Fifi, the Transgendered Hen (crummy pics on Page 3)

My black birchen cochin pullet decided, early on, that she didn't respect my tiny OEGB cockerel and so she began to crow in competition with him.

Her crow sounded like, "Ul-ulllllll-uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul!"

She's now a wonderful broody hen. I had another rooster that was supposed to be a hen grow up and terrorize the hens, so I think my hen got the message that the OEGB cockerel was a kindly gentleman who was worthy of respect.

She hasn't crowed again, even though all the aggressive roos are gone.

D: Sorry I'm just now able to post, computer's been down.

I've got pictures of that confused chicken, but beware: They were taken on a cellphone and have odd quality.

Here's Ms Fifi herself. She tried to spur me (somehow) when I went in for a close up so I had to pick her up to get this mediocre shot. She looks pretty annoyed.

Oh, I've also got a pic of the Roo she terrorizes. He goes by Elvis, but is twice as handsome!

We have one polish hen and she does the same thing. I thought maybe she was trying to assert herself in the hen heirarchy.

So have any of you had a hen that turned into a rooster? My eight month old blue laced wyandotte molted and got huge and transformed into a rooster. He has all the rooster feathers, crows like a champ and is by far the largest our flock. He too, is terribly confused. He is more likely to mount our goose and ducks than the hens. When he does manage to corner a hen he doesn't seem to know quite what to do. I think i'll try confining him to see if he still lays. I hadn't thought about that.
