Fight or flight - A roleplay

"Why don't we find them?" She asked "We would be a much stronger fighting force against the humans."

"That would be ideal," answered Aiden, furrowing, "But it would take careful planning on the council's part. We'd have to think of a way to travel without being spotted by the humans. That's a long and dangerous journey, and frankly, I'm not entirely sure where exactly these harpies are."

(OK, that's cool. Thanks! Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've been caught up in lectures and other stuff... although I did get a sketch of Hally done during a presentation on overfishing, I'll have to post it on here some time.

Hally heard a sound. At first she thought that perhaps something had distached from one of the trees and crashed into the water, but closer examination revealed that the sound was in fact twigs crackling underfoot. Someone was nearby.
She placed the log on the ground and squinted into the light, trying to get a clearer view, which was more or less impossible.

(I just read back a few pages. Are we planning for a battle against the humans? I suck when it comes to fighting. I never really have much clue what to do.

[Since you ask, I'll ruin the surprise a little bit and say that yes, there is an event coming, but whether fighting will be involved or not is everyone's choice.]

Hally awoke the next morning next to the stream where she'd obviously dropped off the night before. The mysterious figure blocked by that irritating sunlight was gone. All was quiet, except for a few birds forcing a chirpy morning song out of their throats. Hally yawned.

Plodding carefully through the dense vegetation, a harpy trekked through the forest. She was sent to find others of her kind, but with a catch - she could not use her wings. She could hardly see over some of the foliage to navigate her way. Determination kept her going thus far, but her feet ached now and she was cold in this foreign climate. The young woman stopped in her tracks and breathed a sigh, shivering and clutching herself in her own arms. She looked up, peering through the overhanging boughs. The glimpses of the mountains through the branches were but a spark of hope. Should she stop now when she was so close to her destination? Of course not, she thought; she couldn't waste another minute. They were depending on her.

Her mind was quickly changed when she took a wrong step and tripped over a raised tree root, tumbling nearly head-first into several boulders. She caught herself with her hands and managed to save her face from colliding with the rock, but her knee struck the stone and there was a sharp crack. She winced and bit into her lip, choking back a shriek in pain. She had no choice now; she had to stop.

She flapped her wings to lift herself back to her feet and she slowly lifted up into an Oak tree, were she climbed into a large, forked branch that she could sit on and rest her leg. She reclined and tried to relax her tension, wearily closing her eyes and attempting to sleep.

[Will be back on tomorrow to finish this in the morning]

A twig creaked near the harpy in the tree. A pair of soft green eyes peered out of the foliage, looked around curiously, then there was a beating of wings and whoever it was, was gone.

Hally, meanwhile, almost fell asleep carving her log into a suitable foundation and it ended up looking more like a spear. "Oh well," she shrugged. "It might come in handy."

Phoenix was sleeping peacefully in the shelter of a large oak tree, her chest gently rising and falling as she breathed. Suddenly, a loud racket jarred her awake as a small yellow songbird began singing right next to her head. With a growl, Phoenix flicked the small bird away and lifted her head, wiping sleep out of her eyes.
