Fight or flight - A roleplay

(I think my RP career is ready to be sabotaged again before it's barely started. Some things just won't be the same. 'Tis unfortunate indeed!)

Hally awoke by the stream, remembered where she was now, and promptly closed her eyes again.
Why did people make the outside world sound like such a great place? She'd spent the morning gathering food to feed herself, which had taken enough effort as it had been a while since she'd had any real exercise.

Silent footsteps broke the silence, and a tall, shapeless silhouette shrouded in the shadows of the dense forest approached slowly. As the filtered pink hued twilight rays peered through the boughs above, a face was distinguishable. The other harpy, a young man, hadn't seemed to notice her in the low light, his thoughtful eyes focused on the ground as he walked to a spot not far from her and kneeled at the stream. He cupped his hands and scooped up some water to drink.

His plumage was of varied shades of gray, his chest feathers tan with sparse black flecking that accumulated into barring on his legs. His talons were large and prominent, his wings enormous and sharply pointed at the tip, much like the swift wings of a swallow.

He was a half a second behind her, and landed a few feet away with a small thud "I'm impressed" He admitted, then added with a sly grin "You know the person who makes the kill has to carry it back right?"

Vita grinned, throwing her head back slightly and laughing cheerfully. She chuckled to herself as she gripped to the carcass tightly with her talons and lifted herself into the air. Her wings beat the air as Vita began to rise ever so slowly, causing clouds of dust to billow up from the ground and disappear into the air.

(Oh, thank heavens, I thought I'd done something wrong. It's been a while since I RPed, and I was worried the rules might have changed or something.

Hally looked up as a grey feather landed in the water beside her. She reached out and picked it up, examining it in the fading light. The light seemed to glint off it, highlighting specks of black. She looked in the direction where the feather had come from, but the setting sun pierced her sight, and ensured that nothing could be seen besides a strange haze fringed with unidentifiable silhouetted shapes. She shrugged, and went back to chipping at building materials. This was going to take her a while.

[No worries! RPs do have their slow times, and it's never really anyone's fault. This roleplay in particular is still in the development stage and not much has happened yet as far as events (yet), so that's another reason why you didn't get a very prompt reply. Don't sweat it, you're playing just fine.]

He rested his legs and let his feet skim the water, as he squinted at the indistinct shape of Hally working with her project. Aloof now, he slowly stood up on his feet and tentatively lurched forward.

"Yes I did, how nice of you to care." he said causticly, giving her a sidelong glance with a half-smile. He banked to the side and angled his wings inward for a falcon dive down to catch a fleeing jackrabbit.

(I know, late reply, but I just barely got on)
(No worries)

Phoenix copied his movements and dove behind him, though slower. "You know, the humans will find us eventually." Her tone was mild, but her eyes were very serious.

Aydene stood atop of a peak on guard duty, his eyes carefully scanning the land below himself. He then spread his massive black-flecked wings out, allowing himself to fall and catch the air flowing around himself with his flight feathers.

Her wings beat the air as Vita began to rise ever so slowly, causing clouds of dust to billow up from the ground and disappear into the air.

Marcello coughed as he breathed in the dust and rose quickly to get above the cloud and Vita. He grabbed into the hind legs of the deer and helped Vita lift it "You look like you need some help." He winked with a grin.

know that, but I fear there is little we can do about it," he called over his shoulder, still keeping one eye on the rabbit, which dashed sharply to the left. He dropped low to the ground, hovering just a few feet above it, then he thrusted his legs out in front of him to snag the rabbit right off of it's feet. He flapped his wings frantically to keep himself adrift before righting himself and landing on his feet with his catch. "Right now, the mountains are the best that I can do, as far as I know. I'm sure Marshall wanted us to be as far from the cities as possible. Some have already found us, but it's never done any damage." He unhooked his talons from his prey, "Yet."
