Fight or flight - A roleplay

There was a flash of dull green. A sharp cry and a word that Hally would not normally use rang out through the air, as she crashed through the door of the med den.

Hally grinned at Aveline. "Did I startle you? Sorry. I was blowing off some steam, because today I did something stupid."
Hally started grumbling something unintelligable.

Aveline jumped from what she was doing at the arrival of Hally, giving her an expression of mild amusement, with just a touch of annoyance. She was glad for the break, however quick and for any reason, but she was a little aggravated at being surprised, "Of course you did." She replied, patting a rather dusty hand off on her hip, "Oh, really? Care to tell, or shall we stumble across the body later?"

The sun seemingly blared itself into existence, as the inside of Aiden's closed eyelids faded to a deep scarlet, the sun's blinding rays bleeding in as he fluttered open his deep brown eyes with a start. He ruffled his feathers as he stood up, taking a short moment to enjoy the gentle warmth of the sun on his back and the soft billows of breeze that gracefully danced through across the surface of the rocks. It was not until now that he then realized he'd fallen asleep on the cliffside last night. Worried that he might have missed something important, he groggily wiped a wing across his eyes and fluttered up to the top of a high rock on the mountain, looking down at the patch of forest dotting the side of the mountain where the harpies slept, and refocusing his bleary eyes.

He spread his wings wide and jumped, falling for but a moment before the wind caught him, spreading under his wings and pushing his primaries upward. He hovered high above the the forest that poured form the mountainside into the land, flying among vultures as he briefly patrolled the skies to watch for any signs of trouble.

"Have a good sleep?" A highly amused voice asked from above him. Phoenix soared behind and above him, her magnificent golden wings extended to their full length. Her dark hair shone in the sunlight, the wind causing it to dance wildly across her face as she flew and she brushed it away impatiently.

Jocelyn watched the two from the branch of a tree, Reese, of course, close by her side. "Can I go fly now?" Reese whined. She flapped her wings impatiently as she looked up at her surrogate mother. Tenderly, Jocelyn looked down at Reese. "Alright, my little string-bean, but be careful." She said. Reese smiled a crooked smile, her eyes brightening and her feathers fluffing up with excitement. Without another word Reese hopped off the limb and stretched out her wings. Her start was a bit shaky, but soon enough she was gliding between trees and giggling merrily. A glimmer of peace shone in Jocelyn's beetle black eyes as she watched the little bluebird-like girl flitter off into the curtain of leaves and branches.

Vita silently soared above the tree-tops, the tips of her wings barely inches from the tips of the tallest ones. The sun beat harsh on her exposed neck and her beak of a nose. She didn't like the sun. Much, it hurt her eyes when it was too bright and it burned her skin. But, she couldn't ignore the fact that it kept her warm on the coldest of days; which was her reason for flying so high.

Marcello spotted Vita from a distance and veered over to fly beside her, his ink black wings reflecting the sunlight "Care to join me on a hunt?"
She widened her eyes with surprise for a moment, revealing how very white her pupils were. Vita quickly became upright and flapped her wings so she could look at him. For a moment, Vita thought about his offer, but soon came upon a decision. "Sure." She said at last. Her voice was very quiet, and hoarse, one could easily tell she didn't do much talking.

Marcello looked slightly taken back by her stange eyes, but didn't mention anything about it. "How about we try by the lake?" He suggested "The deer usually come to drink around this time. We might be able to snag one or two."

Marcello banked gently to the right, setting a course that would take them near the lake, but not right over it. He didn't want to spook any prey that might be there by flying directly overhead.

(Do we hunt with our talons, or with bows/arrows/spears?)

She followed close behind, doing the same as he so as not to scare the deer.

(I was wondering the same. Perhaps with talons for right now, until Birdnut gives us an answer.)
